Afghan Char Masala is a blend of spices widely used in Afghan cuisine. Char”” means “”four”” in Persian, and “”Masala”” means “”mixed spices. In other words, this blend contains four main basic spices.The four commonly used spices are as follows
Cumin:
warm, nutty flavor.
Coriander:
citrus-like aroma and flavor.
Black pepper:
tangy and spicy.
Black Cardamom :
sweet, aromatic and exotic.
Char Masala is often used in meat dishes, especially kababs and kaliyas (stews). It is also sometimes used in rice and vegetable dishes.Afghan cuisine is characterized by its use of spices, and Char Masala is the basic blend. Adding this masala to dishes allows for a rich flavor and aroma.
